Restraint
Being pressed to the pavement in downtown Los Angeles, a man’s body is held down by officers enforcing a curfew. It was June 10, 2025, after days of protests over federal immigration raids that had shaken neighborhoods across the city. More than two hundred people were arrested that first night.
The protests began because many Angelenos felt their neighbors were being taken in ways that were sudden and overwhelming. Some stood in the streets out of fear. Others out of anger. Many simply out of solidarity. They felt the confusion and urgency of that week, the sense that something larger was happening and no one quite knew how it would end. Beyond the politics and the legal battles, what remains is the human reality of it: a city in distress, and people trying to decide what it means to protect one another.
For the clearest detail and strongest finished piece, I recommend using cardstock and a cutting machine. Cardstock provides the stability needed to hold the fine lines and structure of the design.
