Papel Memoria
Papel Memoria is a memorial archive honoring individuals affected by immigration enforcement, detention, and systemic violence by preserving their stories through papel picado portraits that are free to download and use for vigils, memorials, and community gatherings.
This work emerges from an ongoing exploration of how the body holds memory, solitude, and tenderness. In this piece, a bedroom scene is interrupted by an oversized bird that takes shape in dense embroidery, its mass conveying both weight and softness. The figure’s posture and the tactile quality of the embroidery hint at exhaustion, surrender, and the comfort of being enveloped.
