This work emerges from an ongoing exploration of how the body holds memory, solitude, and tenderness. In this piece, a bedroom scene is interrupted by a an oversized bird that takes shape in dense embroidery, its mass conveying both weight and softness. The figure’s posture and the tactile quality of the embroidery hint at exhaustion, surrender, and the comfort of being enveloped.
By pairing stark line work with dense, tactile threadwork, I aim to collapse the distance between image and object. The stitched surface becomes a site of touch; a record of time, repetition, and labor while the image itself suggests moments of private reckoning. This tension between fragility and resilience, absence and presence, runs throughout my practice.
