Heber Sanchez Domínguez
Heber Sanchez Domínguez was thirty four years old. He died in the quiet hours of the morning inside an immigration detention center in Georgia, just six days after being taken into custody. He had been waiting for a hearing. Instead, his life ended far from home, in a place defined by uncertainty.
There is so little written about who he was. We know the outline of his case, the dates, the location, the official language. But those details don’t tell us what made him laugh, who he called when he needed advice, or what he hoped for when he crossed a border. They do not tell us what his absence now feels like to the people who loved him.
If you knew him, if you can share something about his life, his family, his work, his dreams, I would be grateful to include it. His portrait is meant to hold space for the person he was, not the way he died.
For the clearest detail and strongest finished piece, I recommend using cardstock and a cutting machine. Cardstock provides the stability needed to hold the fine lines and structure of the design.
