Big Bend National Park is an original cut paper artwork from Alessandra Gutierrez’s Endangered Landscapes series, which focuses on American landscapes facing environmental and political pressure.
Inspired by Big Bend National Park, the piece captures its cliffs, water, desert vegetation, and expansive sky through intricate cut paper detail. It is part of a limited edition of 50, with each piece individually cut, signed, and numbered by the artist.
One of the most distinctive qualities of Big Bend is the way it transforms with light. When illuminated, the cut paper casts a large shadow of the landscape onto the wall behind it, creating a second image that extends beyond the physical boundaries of the artwork.
The piece is both a portrait of one of America’s most extraordinary landscapes and a reminder of what can be lost when the places we value are left vulnerable.
