Alex Pretti

Alex Pretti was thirty seven, an intensive care nurse who spent his days tending to veterans and his nights worrying about what he saw unfolding in his city. On a Saturday morning in Minneapolis, he stood in the street with his phone raised, recording federal immigration agents in a neighborhood known for its diversity. Video shows him directing traffic, then reaching down to help a woman who had been knocked to the ground. Within moments he was sprayed, tackled, disarmed of his legally registered and secured handgun, and shot while lying face down.

Those who loved him speak first of his gentleness. In the hospital he was known for teaching without judgment and defending colleagues when they were treated unfairly. He made jokes to ease tension. He showed up for people. His parents say he was heartsick over what was happening in Minneapolis and across the country, and that he believed witnessing mattered. Friends remember him as genuine and unfailingly kind. In the noise that followed his death, with accusations and counterclaims filling the air, his family asked that he be seen for who he was. A nurse. A son. A man who cared deeply, and whose final act was to help someone up.

For the clearest detail and strongest finished piece, I recommend using cardstock and a cutting machine. Cardstock provides the stability needed to hold the fine lines and structure of the design.
